A short video of scenes from an LA-based filmmaker’s annual Midwestern homecoming. The feeling of “coming home” is universal for everyone who has moved away. Andy Schlachtenhaufen has captured glimpses of everyday shared moments at his family’s lakehouse reunion, with accompanying music by LA-based composer Rob Simonsen.
Every summer the Schlachtenhaufen clan gathers from all corners of the country for a long weekend at my grandparents cabin in the northwoods of Wisconsin. It’s a beautiful spot on a crystal clear lake, idyllic if you enjoy water skiing or swimming or just reading on the dock. When I was a kid this place was pure magic, the entire lake was our playground by way of a paddleboat. Now I get to watch my cousins’ kids stake a claim in this place and it’s a enjoy to watch. I hope you enjoy this little film, it’s either the fifth or sixth in an ongoing series.
